Evaluation: Goal-Setting in Microschools
Title and Organization
The goal-setting process for students from instructors’ perspectives, for Prenda charter microschools
Date
January 2021 – April 2021
Problem
Evaluate and make recommendations on changes and improvements to the goal-setting system Prenda’s guides (instructors) and students use track and motivate student learning.
My Role
Evaluator – Team of Five
I conducted interviews, wrote report sections, and compiled the report and presentation for our client.
Solution
We surveyed, interviewed guides, and evaluated the interface for student goal-setting and compiled our findings into a report, presented to the company.
Evaluation and Design Strategies
We planned the overall evaluation to include usability and accessibility evaluations as well as research methods for interviewing and conducting surveys.
Results
We recommended Prenda create a more user-friendly system, add in more flexibility, add an improved method for younger students to set goals, and a goal-setting method better aligned with outcomes in learning writing. Our client was pleased with the report and found the recommendations to be useful.
